Overview of role:
The Project Manager (Asset Renewals) is responsible and accountable for the delivery of a wide-ranging program of assigned projects in support of the Asset Renewals Group’s objectives, encompassing renewal for treatment and water/sewer reticulation assets. These objectives must be met while ensuring compliance to budget, time and quality expectations of the Investment Review Committee, Project Management Office, technical and professional standards and related legislation such as the Work Health & Safety Act.
This role contributes to the team by:
- Ensuring assigned asset renewal projects/programs are delivered to client requirements
- Ensuring all stakeholders are engaged and expectations managed
- Ensuring all project risks are managed and business improvements are identified and actioned as required Undertake project/program evaluations, investigations and prioritization
- Preparing all documentation required and ensuring the documentation meets the required standards
- Ensuring efficient and effective resource management
- Ensuring that Coliban is a safe workplace and maintains a sustainable environment and meets all its statutory obligations
- Ensuring that the Coliban team is multi-skilled and has up-to-date knowledge, meeting professional standards
Key Responsibilities:
As our Project Manager, you’ll be accountable for:
Ensure allocated projects and program activities for asset renewal are delivered to requirements:
- Evaluate and determine programs of work within allocated budgets
- Develop project specifications and scoping documents as necessary
- Preparation and assessment of tenders including writing specifications and compiling documentation
- Preparation of project plans and manage the program and contractors in accordance with
- Coliban’s integrated quality standards
- Independently manage strategic investigation of projects/programs and support the Asset Renewals team in delivery of the approved portfolio of works
- Providing a technical overview of project/program design, documentation and implementation plan
Ensure all documentation for projects/programs meets required standards by:
- Prepare comprehensive project briefs and technical specifications
- Compile tender and contractual documentation to comply with current probity and Quality
- Management System requirements
- Prepare stakeholder submissions
- Prepare Project Plans & budgets
- Complete Project Completion Reports
About you:
Substantial working knowledge and experience in Project Management together with qualifications acquired through a Tertiary qualification in an appropriate engineering, Or a scientific discipline, at preferably postgraduate level, Or a Postgraduate qualification in Project Management
In addition to the qualifications and experience specified above, you will be required to meet the following criteria:
- Demonstrated ability to establish and manage complex projects/programs for asset renewal, establish project teams, project budgets and forecasts and timeframes (substantial experience required)
- Proven record in management and delivery of complex projects, applying sound and appropriate engineering principles and practices including management of work schedules and budgets
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships as well as effectively consult, influence and negotiate with internal and external stakeholders to achieve win/win outcomes.
- Well-developed problem-solving skills and the ability to think laterally
- Knowledge of WH&S legislation and training in relevant areas

Salary:
The salary and conditions for this position will be as per the Coliban Water Enterprise Agreement 2021 Band 4 $93,548- $112,895 + superannuation salary range will be offered to the successful candidate commensurate with their skills and experience. This role is a Fulltime Ongoing position.
