Job Description

The Process Operations Engineer will work in the Water Catchment and Treatment Operations Team within the Assets & Operations Department. The role of our Water Treatment Operations Team is to work with Treatment operators to reliably provide high quality safe drinking water to our customers. The team is responsible for the proactive management of raw water supplies and the operation and maintenance of our nineteen water treatment plants, to ensure that the treatment process is reliable, robust and complies with the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines and Health Based Targets.

The Process Operations Engineer is a results driven and passionate team player with a positive attitude who is able to apply engineering principles to deliver high quality outcomes. This position will focus on water treatment plant process optimisation, operations, and maintenance. Success in the role will require a strong focus on team work, lateral thinking and flexibility, technical aptitude, strong communication skills, openness to innovation and a drive for positive team outcomes and success. 

The successful applicant will work closely with water treatment plant operators to build a collaborative relationship, will have a regular site presence and a robust technical understanding of plant operations. The Process Operations Engineer will be a key Coliban Water contact for all water treatment plant optimisation, operations, maintenance and capital upgrade works programs. The role function will also include incident response, strategic development, regulatory reporting, scoping and assistance with delivery of projects and liaison with internal and external stakeholders.

Knowledge of and experience with process optimisation, operations and maintenance of water treatment plants (and/or wastewater treatment plants) is desired. Experience in managing projects including developing specifications, tendering and engaging contractors/consultants and delivery of works along with knowledge of the Victorian water industry is also preferable.

The salary and conditions for this position will be as per the Coliban Water Enterprise Agreement 2021. Band 4 $91,715 - $110,681 base salary range will be offered to the successful candidate commensurate with their skills and experience
